Life Far Away from Home

Sometimes people get lonely. Sometimes they just can’t help but cry. Even somebody so small like me wouldn’t find it hard to notice that one of the things that make people really blue is living far away from home.

Some of our brethren have been living here in the Middle East for more than ten years now. Yes, they now call this place their second home but it just isn’t the same. Home is where your loved ones are, not where you’re working at. Sometimes they go and visit the Philippines but those visitations usually last only a month. Though they try to hide it, I sometimes see the pain that are in their hearts, the pain that they hide with a felicitous smile.

You can’t tell anybody not to miss their loved ones. It’s just like telling a baby not to cry. It’s impossible. But it is very possible to overcome that sadness. Just like our brethren here, their faith in God is what keeps them smiling. They know that at the end of all the sorrow and grief that they are experiencing here on Earth, they will have everlasting happiness in heaven.

The one thing that I am sure will aggravate this melancholy is if their loved ones end up in peril. The knowledge that the ones you hold dear are in safe condition will certainly make you happy, otherwise, it will subject you to gloom. One’s fear that his beloved ones might be in trouble could really give him some depression.

What you can do to make certain that your brethren from far-off will stay elated is staying in the true Church of God. If a brother who got separated from home hears news that his loved ones remain faithful followers of Christ, he will absolutely feel bliss in his heart. He will then be able to get a good night’s sleep.

Life far away from home is hard, but you can make it easier for them.
